Chick Charms 'Lotus Blossom' is a compact, rosette-forming succulent in the Sempervivum (Hens & Chicks) family. It forms tight clusters of layered rosettes that resemble a blooming lotus flower, making it ideal for rock gardens, containers, and outdoor arrangements.
This plant belongs to the Sempervivum genus, native to the mountainous regions of Europe. The Chick Charms® series is a cultivated collection developed for enhanced color, durability, and garden performance.
In summer, mature rosettes produce upright flower stalks topped with clusters of small, star-shaped pink blooms. Like all Sempervivums, each rosette is monocarpic - after flowering, it will die, but new offsets (chicks) continue to grow and fill in the space.
Lotus Blossom' is especially valued for its ever-changing colors. Its rosettes shift from soft green to blush pink and deeper rose tones depending on sunlight and seasons. Combined with its lotus-like symmetry and ability to produce many offsets, it creates a dense, vibrant display over time.
-
Prefers full sun for the best color and compact growth. Can tolerate partial shade, but colors may appear less intense.
Water lightly and infrequently. Allow soil to dry out completely between waterings. Very drought-tolerant once established.
Requires well-draining soil. Performs best in sandy, gritty, or rocky mixes, such as cactus or succulent soil.
Thrives in 60–75°F (16–24°C) but is extremely cold-hardy and can tolerate freezing conditions.
Moderate. Spreads steadily by producing offsets, forming dense mats or clusters.
-
Suitable for USDA zones 3–8. Highly cold-hardy and perfect for outdoor planting in a wide range of climates.
