Lipstick Black Pagoda

  • Description
  • Light/Soil/Water
  • Hardiness
  • The Lipstick Plant ‘Black Pagoda’ is a mesmerizing trailing epiphyte that looks like it belongs in a prehistoric rainforest.

Native to the humid tropical jungles of Southeast Asia (specifically Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam), this plant is an epiphyte. In the wild, it lives tucked into the crooks of trees, drawing moisture from the humid air and nutrients from decaying organic matter caught in the bark.

The "Zebra" Foliage. While most lipstick plants are grown only for their flowers, the 'Black Pagoda' is a year-round stunner because of its variegated, high-contrast leaves. It is also remarkably resilient for a tropical plant, as long as it isn't overwatered.

  • Bright, indirect light. It needs plenty of filtered light to maintain its vivid leaf patterns and to encourage blooming. Avoid direct midday sun.

Keep the soil consistently moist but never waterlogged. Allow the top inch of soil to dry before watering again.

    Airy & Well-Draining soil.
