Aloe 'Oik' is a rare and captivating dwarf hybrid succulent that looks like a treasure plucked from a coral reef. Its small size and intricate textures make it a must-have for collectors of "fantasy" aloes.
Aloe 'Oik' is a captivating dwarf hybrid with ancestral roots in the succulent-rich landscapes of Madagascar and South Africa. It forms a compact, star-like rosette of fleshy, teal-green leaves that are heavily textured with raised, bumpy tubercles. The most striking feature of this cultivar is its bright neon-pink to orange "teeth" that line the leaf margins, often blushing vibrant coral under bright light. Occasionally, it produces slender stalks with delicate, tubular orange flowers, though it is most prized for its tactile, reef-like appearance.
The 'Oik' is celebrated for its extreme texture and neon accents. Unlike smooth aloes, its leaves are covered in "tubercles" that give it a prehistoric or oceanic appearance. It is also a space-saver, rarely exceeding 15 cm in diameter, allowing collectors to fit this "living jewel" into even the smallest of plant displays.
-
Bright, indirect light to partial sun. Intense morning sun enhances the pink "teeth," but harsh afternoon sun can scorch it.
Must have excellent drainage. Use a specialized cactus and succulent mix with extra perlite, pumice, or grit.
Low. Drought-tolerant; allow the soil to dry out completely before watering thoroughly. Avoid water sitting in the rosette.
Prefers warm temperatures between 18°C and 27°C.
